Add host-only adapter
Setup the host-only adapter in Virtualbox for your VM. This is needed so you can "get" to your VM from your host machine.
Power on the VM
Add the adapter to alpine:
nano /etc/network/interfaces
Add the lines:

iface eth1 inet dhcp
Allow root ssh:
nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config
Add the line:
PermitRootLogin yes
/etc/init.d/sshd restart
reboot
