<li>Assists workers in classifying, cataloging, and maintaining tapes.</li>
<li>Separates output, when needed, and sends data to specified users.</li>
<li>Notifies supervisor of errors or equipment stoppage.</li>
<li>Answers telephone calls to assist computer users encountering problems.</li>
<li>Reads job set-up instructions to determine equipment to be used and order of use.</li>
<li>Observes peripheral equipment operation and error messages displayed on terminal monitor to detect faulty output or machine stoppage.</li>

<li>Loads peripheral equipment with selected materials for operating runs, or oversees loading of peripheral equipment by peripheral equipment operators.</li>

<div class="content">The Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) System was developed in response to a growing need for a universal occupational classification system. One that better reflects current occupations in today's economy, and that is flexible enough to accommodate changes in the future. Such a classification system would allow government agencies and private industry to produce comparable data. Users of occupational data include government program managers, industrial and labor relations practitioners, students considering career training, job seekers, vocational training schools, and employers wishing to set salary scales or locate a new plant. It will be used by all federal agencies collecting occupational data, providing a means to compare occupational data across agencies. It is designed to cover all occupations in which work is performed for pay or profit, reflecting the current occupational structure in the United States. </div>
