Felt hats are made of either 100% wool, 100% fur, or a mixture of all three. Wool felt is usually taken from sheep and fur felt is mainly derived from rabbit, hare, and beaver. Some companies like Stetson have used chinchilla and mink fur to be able to make high end fur hats. These hats are the easiest to shape in my opinion, but it does still depend on the type of felt. Personally, I believe it's easier to shape wool hats than fur hats. You really can't tell the difference when it comes to the different felt choices. They can definitely feel different but it's all gonna look relatively the same. Here I've got a video that will kinda give you an idea on how to shape a felt hat. Steam is the main key here. It helps soften the hat enough to be able to shape it to your desire.
